HISTORY OF BLACK HILLS HIGH SCHOOL

A.G. West Black Hills High School opened in Tumwater, Washington in the fall of 1997. The school was named after Arthur Garret West (1886-1979) because of his commitment and interest in good schools, roads, and community improvement. Black Hills is a comprehensive high school which is establishing an excellent tradition of academic programs and a broad range of activities to meet the needs of our student population. BHHS will serve approximately 850 students each year. The Black Hills High School staff is composed of 3 Administrators, 48 teachers, 3 counselors, 1 School Psychologist, 11 Educational Assistants, 7 Support Staff, and 5 Custodial Staff that work tirelessly to serve nearly 900 students.


GOALS

  • Increase parent involvement at all levels within BHHS, including academics, athletics, theatre, et cetera.

  • Increase student, parent, community attendance at BHHS extra curricular activities (e.g., sporting events and theater)

  • Improve Coordination Between Fundraising Efforts at BHHS


Reminder: The BHHS Booster Club is a 501(c)3 organization supporting all clubs, academic groups and sports at school and the Booster Bash is the #1 Fund Raiser for our kids' extracurricular activities.
